Is health insurance required for a Turkish residence permit?
Yes. Health insurance is mandatory for all Turkish residence permit applications. The policy must be issued by a Turkish insurer, cover the full duration of the permit, and include hospitalisation and outpatient treatment. Ikamet Sigorta arranges compliant policies from approved Turkish insurers.
What is foreign plate insurance?
Foreign plate insurance (Yabancı Plakalı Araç Sigortası) is compulsory cover for any vehicle registered outside Turkey that is driven on Turkish roads. It includes mandatory third-party liability (Trafik Sigortası) and is required at border crossings. Without it, your vehicle can be impounded.
What is DASK insurance?
DASK (Doğal Afet Sigortaları Kurumu) is compulsory earthquake insurance for all residential properties in Turkey. It is required by law for utility connections and for most property transactions. Annual premiums are based on property size and location.
Can I get insurance without a Turkish residence permit?
Yes. Foreign plate car insurance and DASK earthquake insurance are available to non-residents. Health insurance for residence permit purposes requires a Turkish address, but Ikamet Sigorta can guide you through the requirements regardless of your current permit status.
